What a great occasion! The Potting Shed Sale organised and run by the Friends of Penllergare exceeded all expectation.
Donations of vegetables, bedding plants, hanging baskets, shrubs, trees, crafts, books, tools and cakes started arriving early last Saturday morning. By the time the tents were erected, the bunting in place and the tables filled with produce, the sun was shining and all was ready to begin. Penllergaer Gardening Club joined the Friends for the day making it a wonderful community spring event. By 11 am what was needed were people and … they came in droves to look, to buy, to enjoy and round the visit off with tea and delicious home-made cake.

At one point it looked as if half of Swansea was heading through the gates to see if they could bag a bargain at Penllergare’s answer to the Chelsea Flower Show! “I would buy more” said one visitor “only I’ve filled three bags and I haven’t any more room in my garden – now I’ll have to wait until next year”.

To all Friends, Volunteers and local people, a really big thank you for helping to make the day such a success. The Potting Shed Sale raised approximately £1,820 towards the restoration of Penllergare Valley Woods. If you are not a member already why not join the Friends and help to raise funds again in such an enjoyable way!
